Clio, MI - Officials with Auto City Outdoor Event Center posted an update on the status of the Speedway following a structure fire at the facility in December. According to the post made on Facebook Thursday morning, officials say the start of the season has been delayed while they wait for the local township to approve the building plans and approve a building permit.

The post says that due to the delays in the approval process, the Max D event scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd has been cancelled. The expected opening date for Auto City Speedway is now June 27th.

The post concluded by saying that the many rental/leased events planned at the Event Center this season are still happening as scheduled. For instance, the Spring Slide scheduled for this weekend featuring AutoModified drifting is still on for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Gates open at Noon each day, with on track activity from 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM Friday and Saturday, and from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday.
