Jonesville, MI - Mother nature is continuing to wreak havoc on the spring season of racing in and around Michigan. If it's not rain, it's cold temperatures that are forcing tracks to make a difficult decision on race day. For Birch Run Speedway, Owosso Speedway, and Oakshade Raceway, the writing was on the wall during the week, and they've already decided to "pull the plug" on this weekend's racing activities.
Birch Run Speedway was slated to host their opening night with O'Guinn Family Funeral Homes Modifieds, Stock Compacts, Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks, and Showcase Auto Sales Street Stocks. The gates at Birch Run Speedway will now swing open for the first time on Friday, May 8th for the Eve of Destruction.
At Owosso Speedway, an Open Wheel Invasion Night was on the card featuring the Valley Freightliner Open Wheel Modifieds and Outlaw 350 Super Modifieds. Myer Electric Pure Stocks were also scheduled for Saturday night. The next event at Owosso Speedway is the 4th Annual Bob Finley Memorial, featuring a $20,067 to win event for the Outlaw Super Late Models and Valley Freightliner Modifieds. The All-American Trucks and Mini Wedges will also be in action.
At Oakshade Raceway, a highly anticipated opening night was scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd. The Bill Reckner Memorial was the first event on the schedule where the DIRTcar UMP Sportsman and DIRTcar UMP Modifieds were to race against each other in the same class. The opener for Oakshade will now be on Saturday, May 9th, featuring DIRTcar UMP Late Models, Sportsman, Dominator Super Stocks, and Compacts.
