Daggett Closes GLSS Season with Back-to-Back Wins
Merrill, MI - The 2026 season has just one race remaining for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP but the regular season is over. A non-points Friday night special at Eldora Speedway for the 4-Crown Nationals is the lone remaining event before a headfirst dive into the 2027 season begins. Following a pair of races in Michigan to close out the regular season, veteran driver Dustin Daggett successfully completed his bounce-back season.
In 2025, Daggett faced a winless season for the first time in his career. Although a successful season for most, with 21 top-five finishes in 27 races, including seven runner-up finishes and nearly a dozen podiums, the performance was more than frustrating for Daggett. Then, on May 29th, the Great Lakes Super Sprints unloaded at Daggett's home track, I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI.
After being one of the last cars on the track for Ti22 Performance Qualifying, Daggett turned in a lap good enough to be second-fast overall, giving him the pole of heat race number two. After a heat race win, Daggett cruised to a fan-favorite win, nearly a year-to-the-day since his last win at I-96.
After than win, Daggett grabbed five more top-five finishes heading into the final weekend of the season in Michigan. With a pair of races on Labor Day weekend, Winston Speedway and Crystal Motor Speedway welcomed GLSS and Daggett had a chance to win the MacAllister CAT Division Championship. With that in mind, Daggett did everything he could to try to secure the title.
Saturday night, Daggett qualified second-quick before cleaning house the rest of the night. The No.85 led every lap en route to his second feature win of the season. Then, on Sunday, Daggett qualified fifth overall before finishing second in his heat race and taking the lead from veteran, John Ivy, before getting his third win of the year. Despite the wins, Daggett came up short on his bid for a Championship behind Max Stambaugh, who captured the title by just 11 points.
