Ovid, MI - Despite a challenging weather forecast, hundreds of race fans turned out on Saturday to Owosso Speedway for the MARCNews.org Easter Egg Hunt as part of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club season kick-off event. Rain presented a logistical challenge for the hunt, but each kid on the property won a prize, while others took home early Easter baskets. Following the Easter Egg Hunt, the Fan Club held its season kick-off meeting and officially elected a new president.
The season kick-off party is a way for the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club (MARFC) to build excitement heading into a new year of racing. A 50/50 raffle, prizes, driver autographs, and of course, the public meeting all help get things started for the 2026 season. Drivers like April Tabaszewski (Owosso Motorsports Park), Bobbi Jo & Kenedi Jernigan (Owosso Speedway), Chad Colley (Great Lakes Lightning Sprints), Jimmy Tucker & Justin Schroeder (CRA Pro Series), David McManus, Kyle Smith, & Nick Lechota (Modifieds), and others who snuck in with their families for the day were all in attendance.
Over 500 Easter Eggs were found in four different age brackets. Rain forced an "audible" from hunt organizers; each age group used the same area of the Owosso Speedway pit area for the hunt to keep families and the other kids dry in the Tech Barn. The original plan included four separate areas for the age groups. Nearly a dozen kids left the day with special prize baskets sponsored by MARC News.

After the excitement of the Easter Egg Hunt, the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club board called an official meeting. The business was to elect board members for the upcoming season, which included familiar faces like David Howe, Nancy May, Rand Thompson, Rick Frantz, Al Lardie, and others. At the very end, John Jackson gave a short farewell speech as the board officially elected Gary Angle as the incoming MARFC President.
Jackson sat as MARFC President for four years after "Wild" Bill Barnhart. Jackson thanked the board members, drivers, fans, and promoters for their support over the last four years.
"I am very proud of the group assembled to carry on the work of MARFC into the future," Jackson said. "It has been a labor of love to work with the board, promoters, members, suppliers, and others over the past four years. I look forward to continuing to play a role as we move forward."
The first Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club weekend of the year is Friday, May 1st at Birch Run Speedway featuring a full show with Modifieds as the headliner. Then, on Saturday, May 1st, MARFC heads to Berlin Raceway with the Reveal the Hammer Outlaw Super Late Models. Fan Club members get free admission to MARFC events throughout the summer.
