Marne, MI - The Johnny Benson Fan Club has announced a series of awards aimed at giving back to some of the most dedicated people who help Berlin Raceway run throughout the summer. In a post on Facebook early Wednesday morning, the Johnny Benson (Official Driver Page) announced the JBFC Awards.

The post says that the awards come from the spirit of "Be Like Biff", a movement throughout the sport encouraging people to live in a way like Greg Biffle, who was known for his humanitarian work. The post says that the Benson family has made the commitment to "Give back to the hard working men and women at Berlin Raceway".

A total of 12 awards will be handed out at the end of the season to employees/officials who are nominated to jbfc@comcast.net. The award not only comes with recognition, but also $210, a nod to Benson's longtime ASA No.21.

For men, the Award is the Be Like Chris Bradley Award. Bradley was a Crew Chief, not only for Benson, but also for Glenn Allen, Joe Nott, and Adam Petty.

Women will earn the Be Like Judy Benson Award. Setting a high standard with support for John Sr, Johnny, and Barb.

Benson, Jr. has long been a familiar face at Berlin Raceway. Beginning his career on the dirt tracks of Thunderbird Raceway, I-96 Speedway, and Auto City Speedway, he found a home at Berlin in 1989, winning the Championship that year. He then went on to have a nine-win-season with ASA before earning the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year in 1994. Benson, Jr. became a NASCAR Cup Series winner on November 3, 2002, and eventually worked his way back into the local racing scene. Benson, Jr still races Outlaw Modifieds, and is credited as a mentor for drivers like Carson Hocevar, Danica Patrick, and others.

Benson, Jr., joined his father as an inductee into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2018.
