Outlaw SLM Champion To Be Crowned Saturday at Owosso Nationals
Owosso, MI - The Owosso 500 Series championship will be decided on Saturday, September 26 during the Owosso Nationals at Owosso Speedway. The 3/8ths mile hosts the final Outlaw Super Late Model race of 2026 in the state of Michigan.
Blake Childers enters Saturday’s race having dominated the Owosso 500 Series to this point in the season. He won the first three races of the year, including the $20,059 to win Bob Finley Memorial back in May to go along with wins in the Humane Society 100 and Camp Owosso 100.
However, he only holds a ten-point lead going into Saturday’s Owosso Nationals. Chase Rosebrugh has top-five finishes in all four races so far and sits well within striking distance going into Saturday. Chad Finley still finds himself with an outside shot at a championship as he sits 35 back after his win in the Ron Hauser Memorial last month.
Finley ended Childers’ streak of victories last month in the most recent Owosso 500 Series event over Canadian Jake Sheridan and former series champion Steve Needles.
Childers has a shot at a fifth Owosso Speedway track championship Saturday and first under the Owosso 500 Series banner. Phil Bozell won the inaugural Owosso 500 Series championship in 2023, with Steve Needles winning it in 2024. Dan Leeck is the defending series champion.
The Owosso 500 Series finale is a part of the Owosso Nationals, featuring two days of racing to end the season at the Ovid, MI oval. The Outlaw Super Late Models will race alongside the Turn One CRA Pro Series, Modifieds and Pure Stocks on Saturday night. Friday night’s card will see Late Model Sportsman, Street Stocks, Trucks, Sport Compacts, and Mini Wedges in action.
