Springport, MI - After weeks of rumors swirling around the Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway, fans were finally given some clarity on Friday night. In a post on social media, it was announced that Donnie Ritter and Dave Miller are the new owners of Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway, bringing another new chapter to the rural facility in Mid-Michigan.

Ritter's tenure with Springport runs deep. In 2022, Ritter and former speedway owner, Curt Ainsworth, were honored as the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Promoter(s) of the Year. Ritter is also credited with establishing and building a Mini Wedge track and program that feeds the sport's growth through youth racers.

In addition to building the Mini Wedge track and program, Ritter is also credited with bringing one of the richest Modified shows in the country, the Hot Shoe 100, to Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway for two consecutive years. Ritter also helped facilitate staff and officials for major events like the annual Michigan Cup weekend.

In December of 2024, it was announced that Ritter was stepping aside from Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway, and by May of 2025, Ritter was promoted to General Manager of Kalamazoo Speedway. The post announcing the purchase of Springport points out that Donnie remains fully committed to Kalamazoo for the 2026 season.

"This is a place we know well," the post on Facebook read. "A place we’re ready to get back to work at. When the opportunity came up, there was no hesitation. There’s a lot of potential here, and we’re ready to put in the work to bring it back to life and get cars back on the track."

"Our goal is to build something for the racers and the fans: Fun, competitive, and good hard racing! We’re excited for this next adventure and look forward to seeing everyone back trackside," the post concluded.

Details on racing for 2026 and 2027 are expected to be announced soon.
