Milton, FL - Officials from Southern Raceway announced that this weekend's USCS Sprint Car events as part of the Winter Heat Series have been cancelled. The weekend was to be the second of the winter for the 360 Sprint Cars and first of back-to-back weekends at Southern. Ongoing upgrades to the facility were sighted as reasons for the cancellation.

In a post on Facebook, USCS and Southern Raceway announced that the track's new ownership, which took control of the Speedway at the end of January, is working on adding new surface while reshaping and widening the track. The post also sighted standard maintenance, like track lighting, that is taking longer to complete than anticipated.

In replacement of the USCS event, Southern Raceway plans to host an open practice on Saturday before a $3,000 to win Fried Bologna 150 Enduro.

Officials declared in the post that while February 13th and 14th were cancelled, plans remain in place to race the following weekend, February 20th and 21st.

Several area teams were expected to make the trip south for races at Southern. MARC News is working to confirm who is still planning to race next weekend.
