Wood Tic Week Is Here!
It’s officially Wood Tic Week at Merritt Speedway, and this year we’re celebrating something big: the 38th Annual Wood Tic! Grab your friends and family, because this is one weekend of racing you don’t want to miss.
Nearly Four Decades of Tradition
Before the green flag drops, let’s take a minute to appreciate why Wood Tic means so much to this speedway.
Back in 1989, lifelong logger Ed VanDuinen, founder of VanDuinen Forest Products in 1973, created the Wood Tic 100 to honor the logging industry and the many businesses that have supported Merritt Speedway over the years. Alongside his wife, Carmen, Ed turned Wood Tic into something bigger than a race weekend. It became a tradition built on great racing, great friendships, and memories that have carried on for generations.
Thirty-eight years later, that legacy is still alive every single time these cars hit the track, and this weekend, we celebrate it again for the 38th time.
Big Racing, Big Money on the Line
This isn't just another weekend at the track, Wood Tic brings some of the biggest prize money of the season. The DIRTcar UMP Late Models are racing for $10,000 to win, and the IMCA Modifieds are chasing $5,000 to win. With stakes like that, expect drivers to leave it all on the track as they battle for a Wood Tic championship.
