Berlin Raceway & Owosso Speedway Align for More Racing in 2027
Jonesville, MI - After a season that saw Berlin Raceway and Owosso Speedway work together for Modified racing in Michigan, the two tracks have announced another initiative that will exist alongside the Michigan Modified Series in 2027.
Trevor Berry was crowned the champion of the Michigan Modified Series in their first season in 2026. A Series that featured five races, two at Marne, Michigan's Berlin Raceway, and three at Ovid, Michigan's Owosso Speedway with $2,500 to win Championship Prize. To be eligible for the Championship and championship prize money, competitors needed to race in 100% of the events scheduled for the 2026 season. Berry, David McManus, Nick Larabee, and Tim Ryan were the four drivers who met that requirement.
On Wednesday, officials from both tracks announced that not only would the Michigan Modified Series return, but Outlaw Super Late Models would be added to the initiative. An 11-race schedule was released featuring five races between Berlin Raceway and Owosso Speedway for Modifieds, and six races, split evenly, for Outlaw Super Late Models.
While few details on eligibility and requirements are available, Owosso Speedway announced that a $50,000 Championship Points fund awaits the Outlaw Super Late Models. The Series calls for a shake-up on home-track advantages, challenging drivers to invade enemy territory and prove they deserve to be called the best.
According to comments on Owosso Speedway's post, the Michigan Outlaw Late Model Series will bring a reduction in Outlaw Super Late Model races to Owosso Speedway, which previously hosted the Owosso 500 Series, featuring five Outlaw Super Late Model races, each with a 100 lap distance. A comment response indicates that the three Michigan Outlaw Late Model Series races will be the only points paying events at Owosso in 2027, with Outlaw Super Late Models still scheduled for the fall Owosso Nationals, but not as a points race.
It was also indicated in the Facebook comments that additional details are expected to be released soon via an Owosso Speedway Press Release.
