LOXLEY, AL - On June 19, 2026, during a Bumper-to-Bumper IRA Sprints event at I-96 Speedway, Hebron, Indiana, native Corbin Gurley went for a wild ride on the opening lap of his heat race. As a result of his flip, Gurley suffered a broken back, fracturing his T4, T5, and T6 vertebrae. Just over four months later, Gurley was back behind the wheel of a Sprint Car on Saturday, October 24th, with USCS at Deep South Speedway.

Gurley didn't take any time to ease back into the driver's seat. He came from fourth in the opening heat race to grab the win in his first race back on the track. Gurley didn't just lead the heat race, he led all eight laps. His momentum didn't stop there.

In the Hoosier Speed Dash, Gurley rolled from the outside of the front row and led all but one lap en route to the win.

Thanks to his win in the Dash, Gurley led the field to green for the 25-lap main event. In a self-reflection post on Facebook, Gurley said he made two mistakes in lapped traffic to hand the lead over to Chris Martin after Gurley led the first 18 laps. Martin went on to get the win over Gurley who finished second.

Gurley's post on social media indicates he plans to keep racing this fall, announcing plans to race at All-Tech Raceway next weekend.
