Michigan Dirt Late Model Series Debuts Friday at Winston Speedway

Rothbury, MI - A new age of Dirt Late Model racing in Michigan will be welcomed on Friday night at Winston Speedway when the Move Over Michigan Dirt Late Model Series Presented by Kapnick Insurance & MacAllister CAT sanctions the first race of a new series. A brainchild of Michigan Motorsports Hall of Famer, Jeff Finley, the Move over Michigan Dirt Late Model Series was announced last month.

Nearly two dozen drivers have announced their intentions to join the Finley family for the debut of the new series this Friday, August 14th at Winston Speedway. Among them are several former champions and young up-and-coming drivers looking for a breakthrough performance.

Former champions of the now-defunct American Ethanol Late Model Tour are headed to Winston Speedway Friday night, including the likes of Dona Marcoullier and Brandon Thirlby. Household names in Michigan's dirt Late Model scene, Marcoullier and Thirlby have each had multi-win seasons for quite some time.

Future Michigan Motorsports Hall of Famer, Eric Spangler has made the decision to head southwest from Lake City to Winston Speedway on Friday night. He's among those with recent "Touring" Championships, including the American Ethanol Late Model Tour and the Allstar Performance Challenge Series. Spangler is joined by several other talented drivers that the state of Michigan has raced with all season long.

Austin Harnick, who is in contention for the Merritt Speedway track championship with Spangler this season, has voiced his intention to race Friday night at Winston. Plus, Rylee Knoll, who is tied with Travis Stemler for the most wins in the state this season, heads to Winston just six days after his most recent win on Saturday night at Merritt Speedway.

Local favorites are also slated to unload on Friday night, including Justin White, Zack Swarts, Brandon Olson, Bailey Lynn, Phil Hendershott, and Jeffrey Erickson, Jr. White and Swarts are the two top Winston Speedway regulars who are on the entry list, both sitting second in Track Championship points heading into the weekend, 42 points back of Tom Sprague, Jr. White grabbed his first career Late Model win earlier this season.

In honor of the mission to bring awareness to Move Over Michigan, Winston Speedway officials have invited area towing companies, fire stations, police stations, EMS workers, and other roadside workers to bring their vehicles for opening ceremonies on Friday night.

Gates open at 4:00 PM Friday night at Winston Speedway for the inaugural event for the Michigan Dirt Late Model Series. Two-car qualifying is set to begin at 6:45 PM, and racing is slated to begin around 7:30 PM.
