Nearly Two Dozen Entered for Inaugural Buck King Memorial Saturday at Whittemore Speedway

Whittemore, MI - During the Growler 100 drivers' meeting held in June at Whittemore Speedway, John King announced a new event would make its debut at Whittemore during Labor Day Weekend with a massive prize. The Inaugural Buck King Memorial 100 is set for Saturday, September 5th, featuring Outlaw Super Late Models for 100 laps, with lap money up for grabs as well.

The Buck King Memorial 100 features a pre-entry list that sits 21 cars strong as of Thursday afternoon. Some of the best Outlaw Super Late Model drivers in the region are set to battle for a $10,000 payday, plus at least $100 per lap to lead the race. In total, $12,900 in just lap money is available Saturday night. Plus, a $500 price for the Fast Qualifier, $500 for the Smooth Move of the Race, $500 for the Hard Charger, $500 for the Hard Luck Award, and $250 for the long haul.

Among the 21 drivers on the entry list are several household names for Outlaw Super Late Model fans, including 2026 Growler 100 winner John King. Son of Buck King, whom the race is named after, John King recovered from an early race incident and came from the back of the pack to grab the Growler 100 win.

Other Growler 100 winners entered for Saturday's race include 2025 winner Jason Felver, and 2024 Growler 100 winner, Blake Childers. Childers also won this year's Bob Finley Memorial at Owosso Speedway, making him a favorite heading into the weekend.

Another local favorite is entered for Saturday's race, Tawas City, Michigan's Steven Ulman. One of the most memorable wins in Ulman's career came from Whittemore Speedway when he grabbed a CRA Pro Series win.

Five-time Kalamazoo Klash winner, Tyler Roahrig is set to make the haul from Plymouth, Indiana. Plus other notable Outlaw names like Jacob Maynard, Matt Frazier, Mark Shook, Dan Leeck, and Kyle Drake.

The weekend begins Friday with an Open Practice starting at 5:00 PM after hauler parking at 4:00 PM. A team appreciation dinner is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM with another round of on-track time until 9:00 PM. Saturday, the first practice session of the day begins at 3:00 PM with Qualifying set to begin at 6:00 PM. An on-track autograph session follows before racing is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
