Owosso, MI - Owosso Speedway officials have released the format for the inaugural Go For Broke 150 scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 26-27. The new marquee Modified event
will feature a unique format that guarantees every lap on track matters over the course
of the two days.
Single-car qualifying will be Friday night, June 26 with $1,000 up for grabs for the
fastest qualifier. The top 48 in qualifying will then be split into 50-lap odd and even
duels with full field inverts. Each duel will pay $2,500 to win and the top 12 finishers
from each race will move on to Saturday, June 27’s main event.
The remaining 24 drivers will race for $10,500 on Saturday night in the Go For Broke
main event, but with a twist. Fans in the stands will draw the starting lineup for the 50
lap race, with the first name drawn starting 24 th and the final name drawn starting first.
Each lap of the main event will pay $100 to the leader of said lap. Additionally, the fan
who draws the name of the race winner will receive a prize.
There will also be a non-qualifier race on Saturday night that is open to any car that
doesn’t qualify in the top 48 Friday. Race distance will be determined by car count
during Go For Broke 150 weekend.
“We’re not following someone else’s blueprint,” Owosso Speedway officials said in a
release. “We’re creating our own brand of big-time Modified racing. We wanted a
formula that builds exciting and fair competition for the drivers, but also something that
would deliver edge-of-your-seat entertainment for the fans.”
The inaugural Go For Broke 150 comes after a three-year run of Owosso Speedway
hosting the famed Hot Shoe 100, which has moved west to Kalamazoo Speedway for
the 2026 edition. The Go For Broke 150 pays $10,500 to the main event winner while
paying over $1,000 just to start.
