“Shooky” Crowned 2026 Reveal The Hammer Champion
Mark Shook joined Steve Needles as a multi-time Reveal The Hammer Outlaw Super Late Model Series champion Saturday night at Berlin Raceway. A sixth-place run in the finale was just enough to secure his second championship just ahead of Zack Cook and Phil Bozell, finishing just 12 and 16 points ahead of the two, respectively.
It was a show of consistency throughout the five-race season for the Schoolcraft, MI driver. While Shook never found victory lane, he finished in the top-five three times and didn’t finish worse than ninth. His season-best result came in the opener at Kinross Raceway Park when he finished second to Brian Bergakker.
He now has two Reveal The Hammer championships in the six-year history of the series, joining Steve Needles (three) as a multi-time champion. Shook’s first came in 2023, when a win at Birch Run propelled him to the title by just four points over this year’s third place points finisher Phil Bozell.
Shook needed to finish seventh or better on Saturday night to clinch the championship, doing so by finishing sixth. His two closest championship competitors finished just ahead of him in fourth and fifth.
“The year didn’t go as good as we wanted it to be. We wanted to be in victory lane more often but nonetheless we were consistent enough to run up front and we were fortunate enough to beat the rest of the competition,” Shook said on the FloRacing/Racing America broadcast. “They’re very strong and my buddy Zack Cook was second or third. Phil Bozell and those guys race us very clean. It’s fun to race with clean racers like that.”
It’s not often you see teammates finish 1-2 in a battle for a championship, which is what happened with Shook and Triple B Fabrication teammate Zack Cook. Four top-five finishes in five races gave the 2024 Rookie of the Year a shot at the championship going into Saturday night’s finale at Berlin.
With the championship on the line, Shook was hoping they could race it out for the title and that one of them would leave Berlin as the 2026 Reveal The Hammer champion.
“We handled it great. We wanted what’s best for each other and this time it has me winning the championship. Hopefully next year he can do it.”
With a fifth-place finish in the final points standings, 15-year-old Chloe Mazzagatti was crowned the 2026 Brandyn Ross Memorial Rookie of the Year. Last year’s Rookie of the Year Bryce Bozell finished just ahead of her in points in fourth.
