Stovall To Take Part in Cleetus McFarland’s 2.4 Hours of LeMullets

KALAMAZOO, MI - A Michigan Late Model driver will get the chance to race alongside NASCAR stars Denny Hamlin, Carson Hocevar, Ryan Preece and Ty Dillon, as well as celebrities T-Pain, Vanilla Ice, and Dax Shepard. There’s only about one place that can combine all these names into one race.
Dylan Stovall was invited to compete in Cleetus McFarland’s crown jewel – the 2.4 Hours of LeMullets at the Freedom Factory on Friday, November 13. The event, formatted after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, features teams of two drivers competing in Crown Vics with nitrous on a kidney-shaped race course.
The Kalamazoo, MI driver will team up with JH Diesel for the event, a connection that started with each of the drivers’ wives and continued with him spotting Zach Walker to a win during McFarland’s Crown Vic race at Berlin Raceway back in August.
“My wife’s really good friends with JH Diesel’s wife," Stovall told the Horsepower Happenings Podcast on Monday night. "I got to know JH and meet him, they got us full access tickets to the Crown Vic race Friday [at Berlin] and got to know them very well and spot for Zach. It just turned into; we won the Late Model race. You’ve got to be approved for this race, and winning the Late Model race definitely helped get me approved by all them to come, so that was really cool. It’s all really JH and Danielle, if it wasn’t for them, it’s not possible for us to do it.”
What started with a win as a spotter on Friday night that weekend ended with the biggest win of Stovall’s career to date the next afternoon. He won the inaugural Cleetus McFarland Late Model Series race just three days after the Battle At Berlin and won $20,000 after beating out Bubba Pollard in the Big Ass Lakes 75.
It was that weekend that led to the completion of the approval process to compete in the 2.4 Hours of LeMullets.
“I got to know Zach really well Friday too that week," Stovall told the podcast. "I got to take him around the track in the pace truck and show him how to get around there for the Crown Vic race. It was just a combination of everything; Berlin putting on the event, my wife knowing Danielle and getting to know Zach, winning the Late Model race, and doing well in the spotter’s stand.”
Stovall now stands to compete against NASCAR stars, celebrities, and Cleetus and friends on November 13 in the 2.4 Hours of LeMullets at the Freedom Factory.
