Fenwick, MI - The Michigan racing community is mourning the loss of one of their own again this week. It was announced on Wednesday that Linda Henrickson, owner of Mid-Michigan Raceway Park, passed away just one day after her 73rd birthday. Reports began circulating around social media in the afternoon, and by the evening, an obituary had been posted on the Mid-Michigan Raceway Park Facebook page. Her husband, Gene, and son, Gary, were largely credited for running the facility throughout the summer.
From Mid-Michigan Raceway Park:
Linda J. Henrickson, age 73, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1953, and lived a life filled with dedication to her family, her community, and the things she loved.
Linda spent the last 35 years living in Fenwick, Michigan. She was well known in the racing community as the owner of Mid-Michigan Raceway Park, where she helped create a place that brought racers, fans, and families together. The track became more than a business to Linda—it was a second home and a gathering place for the community she cared so deeply about.
In addition to her work at the racetrack, Linda was a certified Duncan ceramics teacher. She loved sharing her creativity and talent with others, helping many discover the joy of ceramics and artistic expression.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Gene Henrickson; her children, Kris Wilson, Ronald Henrickson, Gene A. Henrickson, Gary Schmid, and Josette Schmid; and her grandchildren, Tyler Schmid, Hunter Schmid, Reese Sandin and bonus grandchild Brad Bowser. Her family was the center of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlo C. Lillywhite and Virginia Lillywhite, and her stepson, Jeffrey Henrickson.
Linda will be remembered for her strength, her generosity, and the way she welcomed people into her life as if they were family. Her passion for racing, teaching, and community left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Per her wishes, the Banquet scheduled for this Saturday will go on as scheduled. She laughed, loved, and joked till the end
