Trevor Berry Wins Inaugural Michigan Modified Series Championship

Jonesville, MI - After the Midwest Modified Tour announced it would not return for the 2026 season, Ownership at both Berlin Raceway and Owosso Speedway announced the formation of the Michigan Modified Series. The final event of the inaugural season was held on Saturday at Owosso Speedway, with Aaron Taylor going from sixth to the win. An eighth-place finish for Clio, Michigan native, Trevor Berry, was enough to earn the championship.

To be eligible for the Championship and championship prize money, competitors needed to race in 100% of the events scheduled for the 2026 season. Five races were on the calendar, with the opening race at Berlin Raceway on Saturday, May 16th, Owosso Speedway on Saturday, May 30th, a return to Berlin on Saturday, June 13th, back to Owosso on July 11th, and the finale on August 15th. Just four drivers unloaded at all five races this season.

With a unique points structure, the idea was similar to scoring golf: score the least amount of points possible. Drivers earned points based on finishing position, with one point for the winner, two points for second, three points for third, and so on. A -1 point reward for the fastest qualifier was awarded at each event.

Trevor Berry totaled just 19 points by season's end. He opened the year with a fifth-place performance at Berlin. The next event, David McManus became the only driver to earn a perfect score at a Michigan Modified Series event, setting fast time and grabbing the feature win; Berry came home second. Back to Berlin on June 13th, Berry grabbed another top-five finish, coming home fourth before grabbing his only win with the Series on Saturday, July 11th. To wrap up the Championship, Berry ran seventh on Saturday at Owosso.

Berry's five-race Series season was impressive. In the five races, Berry was the only driver to finish with under 10 points in all five shows. McManus had a tough race at Berlin Raceway on June 13th, giving him 12 points. Nick Larabee was third in the standings with Tim Ryan fourth as the final eligable driver for points and payout.
